Canada has legalized recreational marijuana. Federal law states that people can grow a maximum of four plants per household. It is applicable for almost all regions in Canada, except Quebec and Manitoba.
The process of getting your weed seeds to sprout is known as cannabis germination. You will observe a white tendril sprouting after a few days. This white tendril is known as a taproot.
Identifying the Good Weed Seeds
Cannabis farmers look for a few aspects that help them recognizing if the seed they are using is viable:
- Tiger Stripes:Dark veins like stripes will be found on the seed. Similar stripes are present on the leaves. The seeds are viable.
- Solid Shell:Try lightly pinching the seed with your finger. If the shell shows any cracks then it’s not good seeds. Seeds should be able to sustain little pressure.
Procedures to Germinate Weed Seeds
Select your desired method depending upon the climate of where you live. Three common methods:
#1. Through Soil:
- This is common and successful for germinating weed seeds. First and foremost check whether your soil is the right type.
- Start using mild fertilizers. The pH level must be approximately 6.
- Create a minuscule hole and prepare your spot. The hole should be 1.5cm deep. Put your desired seeds in the spot.
- Use a plant sprayer to dampen the soil. Keep the pot under fluorescent light. Maintain the soil temperature to 22° C.
- Within 4 days little stems will be observed. When the plants grow 4 inches take a larger pot and transfer the plant.
#2. Through Water:
- The effective rate is around 90%. Seeds should not be left in water for too long.
- It takes about 24-28 hours for the taproot to sprout.
- Once done correctly it will help you crack the shell of the seed.
- Take a water-filled glass and put the seeds. 18° C temperature is required. Change the water every day while maintaining the temperature.
- You will observe the seeds start to split in about 2 to 4 days. When the roots reach 3 to 5 mm long, plant them in a pot.
#3. Through Cotton Pads:
- This is a gentle method. The seeds are warm, moist, and protected.
- In between two cotton pads keep a few seeds. Use a sprayer to moisten the seeds.
- Take two plates and keep the cushioned seeds in between them.
- Maintain the temperature to around 22° C. Seeds shouldn’t be kept on the windowsill.
- You will observe a tiny root in about 2 to 5 days. When it reaches 3-5 mm plant them.
